That is where it all started.
It started back in Croatia when we decided to present its unique flavours to the people of London at its number one market, the foodies’ shopping paradise.
Prestigious Borough Market is widely known for some of the best and finest food produce from the UK and the world. it is a market that has bounced back for the Pandemic and grown in size and popularity with 23 million customers visiting in 2022.
Our customers in the shop are not just London foodies but international. They all share one thing in common, a love and passion for Borough Market and Croatia which is fast becoming a top gastronomical attraction for tourists.
Our Taste Croatia shop started life as a market stall in December 2010 as a small and humble stall selling a few jams, oils and fig products. Ana-Maria and I were excited to be at our favorite London Borough Market and at the same time a little nervous as this was a new adventure and challenge for us both. Little did we know how far it would take us.
In 2013 we opened a shop at Borough Market, in the 3 Crown square area. This shop was a new place to improve our range of delightful delicacies, as we continue to bring to the UK customer the best of Croatia’s fine produce.
Our Istrian olive oil range is from 2 of the best estates. Istria has been awarded “worlds best region” in Flos Olei (the worlds industry bible on olive oil), for the past consecutive 7 years. Our fig jams from Split are delightful served with cheese, truffles from Istria including white truffle honey, truffle salami, truffle cheese, truffle pate and truffle oils are all from the Zigante our truffle supplier who we have been working with from the start of our adventure. We sell a small range of delightful Croatian wines which are now receiving Decanter awards. Come and try Kulen (sort of spicy Croatian chorizo) from the inland farming region of Slavonia, with Geographic protected status. Our legs of prosciutto are sea air dried from the hills behind the beautiful Venetian city of Sibinik. Lets not forget Paski Sir, the artisan sheep’s cheese from the sunny island of Pag. Made from an indigenous breed of sheep that feed of the wild rosemary and vegetation on the rocky sea air kissed slopes. A 3 star Great Tase winner and also featured in the latest Borough Market cook book. These delightful products and more are available at our Borough Market shop and online.
