Description

Kutjevo winery in Croatia’s Slavonia was founded by Cistercian monks in 1232. Monkish noses always could sniff out top vineyard sites (just look at Burgundy) and as soon as they arrived at Kutjevo they started planting vines. The cellar has now brought itself bang up to date with modern methods and technology, which is why its Graševina is so fresh and fruity. The winery is regarded as one of the finest in Croatia and in recent years has won a great list of international awards. They have extensive vineyards close to mountains and the coast, explaining the lovely sea breeze freshness of their Graševina wines. Add in the altitude of the vineyards, between 200 and 450 metres, and you have the recipe for this freshly fruity, aromatic white.

Meet Graševina – the queen of white grapes in Croatia. It has fresh apple and peach fruit, underlined by a saline, citrus minerality, not unlike the style of good Picpoul. From an 800 year old winery, one of the best in Croatia, this is a top find.

Tasting notes : Lemony freshness, with rounded apple and peach
Aroma: Apple, peach, lemon and a sea breeze freshness
